Julie Fay (b. December 5, 1951), the daughter of Dudley Holland and Jean Fay, was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Connecticut in 1974, her Master of Arts at Arizona State University in 1977, and her Master of Fine Arts at the University of Arizona in 1979. As a professor at East Carolina University in the English Department, she taught classes in the Creative Writing and Multi-Cultural and Transnational Literatures programs and is also a poet. Professor Fay was also a Fulbright Scholar teaching in France (2005-2006). She is professor emerita and living in France.
