The Greater Greenville Women's Club was a volunteer organization that was located in Greenville, North Carolina. It was active from the 1980s to 2006. The mission of the Greater Greenville Women's Club was to promote community service, education, and leadership in Greenville, N.C. The club was a branch of the North Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs which was established in Salem College, Winston-Salem in 1902 and was in turn a branch off of the Greater Federation Women's Club which was founded in 1889. The Junior Woman's Club of Greenville, N.C. was established for women 45 years or younger.
The records of the Greater Greenville Women's Club consists of three series: the Greater Greenville Women's Club Records; the records of the Junior Woman's Club of Greenville, N.C.; and the records of the Greater Federation of Women's Clubs which is the international parent organization.
Series One: The Greater Greenville Women's Club Records (1986 to 2006) provides information on the operations of the club through their correspondence, financial papers, meeting minutes, and newsletters. Among these records are award certificates and project/program reports that show the club's history, their accomplishments and community service. Of particular note is the membership information from a directory and from a survey conducted by the club in 2003.
Series Two: The Junior Woman's Club of Greenville, N.C. Records (1976 to 1996) make up the bulk of the collection and has correspondence, certificates, membership information, newsletters, and yearbooks. The majority of the records consist of meeting agendas and minutes and project/program summaries illustrating the club's community service history.
Series Three: The Greater Federation of Women's Clubs Records (1968 to 2006) provides information on the organization's history. Included are notes, a statistical report, membership information, financial papers, a District 8 handbook, a devotional, forms, an officers' list, and a typed listing of local clubs. A history of both the Greater Federation of Women's Clubs and its' North Carolina chapter is also included.
