Robert J. Walker, a Duplin County, N.C., farmer recorded his day-to-day activities in a journal (1889-1897). His writings contain accounts of business transactions such as the amount of meat, corn, and oats sold in a day; crop cultivation including planting and harvesting; and daily weather. Also of interest are Walker's attempts to record his strong religious beliefs in everyday life and brief references to a Farmers' Alliance meetings.
