Biographical/historical information

L. H. Smith was a public school teacher in Edgecombe County, N. C., in 1854.


Scope and arrangement

The photocopies in this collection consists of personal letters from L. H. Smith to his brother (1853) and to his daughter (1855). Photocopoies of a Common School Teacher's Certificate issued to L. H. Smith for Edgecombe County (1854) and a North Carolina Public School Register for Duplin County Schools (1882-1896) are also included in the collection. Photocopies of the Public School Register contains teachers' names, salaries, textbooks used, pupil attendance, and grading procedure.
