Description
A plume of water and sand rise high in the air as the Army Corps of Engineers detonated 26 tons of a high explosive this afternoon on the Core Banks on the coast of North Carolina. The blast blew a 385 foot plug out of the banks to reopen an inlet- Drum Inlet -that had been closed due to natural causes.
