Instrument sterilizer

Title
Instrument sterilizer
Description
This sterilizer set includes a water sterilizer and instrument sterilizer mounted on a painted metal stand. The water sterilizer boiled unsanitary water until it was made sterile enough for medical use. The instrument sterilizer was used to quickly and efficiently sterilize instruments by boiling them in water. The instrument sterilizer, water sterilizer, and rod stand were sold separately and were gas powered. Dr. Joey Sykes, the sterilizer sets original owner, attended UNC Chapel Hill and the University of Pennsylvania and was awarded his degree in 1929. Dr. Sykes practiced in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for forty years.
