Abstract:
In 1947, Walter Cantrell, who had just returned from World War II, purchased an old wooden building in Transylvania County that was once a distillery. Previously, he had worked with the Tryon Toymakers and Woodcrafters since 1927, where he had learned furniture making from a German craftsman. Nearing retirement, he looks back on his career of making antique furniture.
