Abstract:

Some very impressive engineering feats were accomplished in North Carolina during the 20th-century. Among them are Fontana Dam on the Little Tennessee River, the tallest dam east of the Rocky Mountains; the relocation of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse; and the Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
