Abstract:

Founded in 1967, the Country Doctor Museum was born from the interest of two women physicians, who were daughters of country doctors; namely, Dr. Josephine Newell and Dr. Gloria Graham. The two worked with co-founders Mary Gilliam Carr and Betty McCain. The Country Doctor Museum is the oldest such museum in the nation focusing on American rural medical history.
