"In Iredell County, Fort Dobbs State Historic Site provides a window into pre-Revolutionary War life at the edge of North Carolin's western frontier. The original fort, completed in 1756, provided defense for the area known as the Fourth Creel Settlement during the Seven Years War. The site is the only North Carolina State Historic site devoted to the French and Indian War.
