"In Charlotte, a Daughters of the American Revolution chapter has been getting things done for 127 years -- and it's just getting started." Begun in 1898, the Mecklenburg DAR Chapter is the oldest of its kind in North Carolina and the second largest in the state behind one in Wilmington. For a number of generations, the Mecklenburg Chapter has been actively involved in restoration of the historic Rock House associated with Hezekiah Alexander, a Charlotte statesman, who led his area in the quest for independence.
