Abstract:
"George Masa's photographs help preserve the beauty he chased." Masa was born in Japan in 1881. He made his way to Asheville in 1915 to work at the Grove Park Inn. His photographic work was and continues to be remarkable for capturing the beauty of Appalachian ranges and valleys in North Carolina. Brent Martin published a biography of the artist in 2025.
