Abstract:
In 1860, the primary industry in Beaufort County was that dealing with lumber. Some of the early lumber companies in Beaufort County noted by the author include the Kugler Mill, Camp Manufacturing Company, E.M. short Lumber Company, the Blades Lumber Company, Pamlico Lumber Company, Moss Planning Mill and Bayside Lumber Company to name a few.
