Abstract:

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service's New and Emerging Crops Program helps facilitate research and identifies new crops that sustainably viable to North Carolina farmers. Recent attention has been given to sesame, grown typically in Texas and Oklahoma. Sesame has some interesting benefits to growers, including drought and deer resistance and little in the way of additional equipment other than what is generally used for growing small grains.
