At 104 years old, Fairfield Furniture currently employs approximately 500 people at two plants in Lenoir. It produces on average 2,000 unique pieces of upholstered furniture a week. James Harper, a native of Fairfield, Pennsylvania migrated to North Carolina for health reasons and gave the land on which the town of Lenoir was established in 1831.
