Abstract:
"Wilmington's new endowment encounters growing pains as it seeks 'transformational change'". The New Hanover Community Endowment was created with $1.25 million in proceeds from the county's sale of the 800 bed New Hanover Regional Medical Center to Novant Health in 2021. It one of the largest community-building nonprofits in North Carolina history. Focus of the endowment is social and health equity, community development and safety.
