Abstract:

A native of Kinston, Sawyer established a medical practice in Ahoskie, which has in recent years has become part of Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center. He is noted as a pillar of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and jokes that he is the oldest acolyte in the Diocese of East Carolina.
