Located along the Scuppernong River in Tyrrell County, Columbia is home for the Walter B. Jones Center for the Sounds, the Pococsin Arts School of Fine Craft and the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. Originally founded as Elizabethtown in 1793, it was renamed Columbia in 1801.
