Abstract:
At the turn of the 20th century North Carolina was an attractive destination for many of the nation's elite hunting enthusiasts. The Piedmont area was especially prized for hunting of wild quail. Numerous hunting clubs and lodges were established, beginning in 1894 with the Thomasville Shooting Club.
