Naming of Hobbsville, NC

Abstract:
It began with David W. Hobbs (1826-1899) who sold a right of way to the Suffolk and Carolina Railroad. He became section master of the way station built by the railroad named ‘Hobbs Station.’ The town eventually grew up around the station.
