On Dec. 25, 1841, William Butler and wife Harriet, of Henderson Co., KY appointed Burney Hancock, of Pitt County, their Power of Attorney to rent or lease 200 acres that William Butler bought from the heirs of Lewis Cannon, dec’d. being: Thomas Clay and wife Holland; Evans Lambert and wife Elizabeth; Isaac Sheffer and wife Patsey; Nancy A. Alvey, and Nathaniel Cannon.
