John Bryan/Bryant, b. May 26, 1761 in Bertie Co., NC, d. Feb. 24, 1841. He moved with his family to Pitt County at a young age. He m. in 1786 to Nancy ____ ( sister of Dinah Whitehurst). Dinah Whitehurst had a son, Reuben Whitehurst, b. Sept. 13, 1787. The records mention Mrs. Sally Lewis, Capt. John Moye, John P. Pitt, Henry Stancill, Henry Austin, Capt. James Lanier, Col. Jonas Johnson, Drury Bullock, Capt. John Hodges, Henry Moore, Dinah Moore, Moses Highsmith, Jesse Thomas, Francis Bryan, William Whitehurst.
