Abstract:
In 1798, an advertisement appeared in the State Gazette of NC that a set of “obnoxious characters” had been driven out of the area where Edgecombe, Martin and Pitt Counties intersect. From Pitt County were: John Worsley, Pitman Worsley and James White. Other surnames include Tennison, Lloyd, Beel, Tyler, Staton.
