Abstract:
The usage of buttermilk in the mountains of North Carolina has a long tradition and reflects the adaption of individuals to preserve milk in a new way. Included is a description of a North Carolina-favorite: crumbled up cornbread in a glass of cold buttermilk in addition to home remedies involving buttermilk.
