Abstract:
Milton, located in Caswell County and founded in 1728, was once the center of social activities in that part of the state. At present 400 people live there, but at one time the population was 1500. There were three tobacco factories, three warehouses, a fine racetrack, and shopping that attracted people from the surrounding area. It was also the place where Thomas Day, a famous African American furniture maker, lived and created fine handmade mahogany furniture.
