Abstract:
There are twenty-four woodworking and allied industries in Lenoir--eleven are furniture manufacturing plants. There are four cotton mills in the county; smaller industries include a flour mill and several sawmills. The county has a large transportation system, and several motor freight and express lines operate from there. Agriculture is an important part of the economy, with big gains in livestock and growing dairy herds.
