Abstract:
Rowan County celebrated its bicentennial in 1953 with a new historical museum in Salisbury. It is a house museum furnished with period pieces and a rotating collection. John Stirewalt, the noted Piedmont architect, designed the house, and it is believed to have been built by Louis Utzman, a German contractor who sold it in 1819.
