Abstract:
With waters sinking to the lowest ebb in the winter months since 1916, the granite face of \"Old Whitney\" Dam was actually visible from the banks of the Yadkin River near New London, North Carolina. Hurley recounts the history of Whitney Dam, a unique structure built entirely from Rowan County granite.
