Abstract:
The Cowee Valley, located in Macon County, is a productive zone for ruby hunters. At least nine mines are currently open in the region, drawing in tourists and locals interested in the pursuit of rubies. Large gems have been found, weighing between three and four carats and on par in quality with stones found in the world's premier ruby zone, Burma.
