Abstract:

Clark describes work on a 20-mile section of interstate superhighway between Cove Creek in Haywood County and the Tennessee border. Part of the roadway twists along the edge of the Pigeon River Gorge. To complete the grading and structures on the massive project, the highway construction firms must blast out and move over forty million tons of rock. Cost for the project is over $1 million a mile.
