Starting May 1, 2010, North Carolina boaters must meet the requirements of the Boating Safety Education Law which was passed by the North Carolina General Assembly. The program is directed at individuals younger than twenty-six years who will be operating vessels powered by a ten horsepower or greater motor on a public waterway.

Abstract:
The common loon (Gavia immer) is a large waterfowl that can measure up to three feet long with a wingspan of about fifty-eight inches. During the breeding season in its Northern territory it is colorful and musical, but when the loon comes South to winter, its coloration becomes drab and its music becomes muted.
