Boyd Lee George is president of Merchants Distributors, Incorporated, a complex of seventeen acres of warehouses located in Hickory. His father and uncle founded the company in 1931. They made $250,000 the first year. Sales for this year are projected at $581 million. The company stocks over 23,000 items that it supplies to supermarkets and convenience stores throughout the Southeast.
