Formed in 2019, the Utopian Seed Project is a non-profit organization deducted to trailing crops in the Southeast to to advocate genetic diversity in farming and food. It also raises awareness for wild and native crops that often go unidentified.

In 2019, Kevin Adams, assisted by fellow enthusiasts, worked to form Waterfall Keepers of North Carolina. the group's goal is to preserve North Carolina's waterfalls and ensure their enjoyment for the future. In March 2020, they launched the Adopt-a-Waterfall program that calls on volunteers to keep an eye out for threats and degradation.

for nearly ten years, Shabazz has lead Asheville Southside Kitchen and the GO Kitchen Ready program where disadvantaged individuals aspiring to work and run commercial kitchens learn necessary skills to be successful. Shabazz was recently awarded the Ruth Fertel Keeper of the Flame Award.
