Richmond Hill, once home to Richmond Mumford Pearson, chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court from 1858-1878, is to be renovated and incorporated into a national park for historical posterity. Pearson held a unique law school in the building, teaching more than 1,000 students in a twenty-year period.

John Braxton, a young dairy farmer in Alamance County, constructs muzzle loading flint and cap lock rifles similar to the guns used in the Revolutionary War and Civil War. His guns have been fired in numerous marksmanship competitions and battle reenactments.

The article provides before and after pictures of the Tull's Creek Bridge in Currituck County. Built in the mid-19 century, the bridge was originally a manually-operated drawbridge. When boats needed to dock, someone was sent on shore to operate the hand crank to open and close the bridge for passage.
