The North Carolina Aero Club's annual tour happened on July 9-11. This article mentions highlights seen from the air. The itinerary included a flight from Raleigh to Rocky Mount, then Rocky Mount over the Outer Banks. Commentary from the author includes anecdotes, thoughts on flying, and general remarks about local landmarks. One notable observation is about an outbreak of forest fires in the northeastern North Carolina.

Dr. Mary Martin Sloop is a prominent figure in Crossnore. She built up Crossnore, Inc., a private school for Crossnore children. She developed the village's school system and hospitals through a program of selling used clothing to raise necessary funds.
