Henry DeMille achieved fame as a playwright in the latter part of the 19th-century, but their productions and popularity did not survive beyond the early years of the 20th-century. He was the father of two well-known sons--C.B. DeMille, a playwright and motion picture director and producer, and William Churchill DeMille, a playwright and writer, director, and producer of motion pictures.

Rockingham County was formed in 1785 and covers an area of 572 square miles. This article highlights the development of industry there which includes agricultural and livestock products, apparel, textiles, furniture, hosiery, cigarettes and other tobacco products.
