In this continuing series of articles on the various departments of North Carolina state government, Sadler discusses the State Industrial Commission. The 1929 General Assembly enacted the law which created the commission, which \"aims for full cooperation and better understanding of mutual interests between employer and employee.\" Matt H. Allen of Kinston is the Commissioner.

Abstract:
Duels were fought between some well-known North Carolinians in the 19th-century, and some were fatal. One of the earliest took place in 1802 in Craven County between John Stanly and Richard Dobbs Spaight, a former Governor and member of the Continental Congress.
