Abstract:
Two leadership training programs were held at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte between 1968 and 1969. These programs were organized by the Institute of Government to enable minority voices on public boards be more vocal and empower them to become community leaders.
Abstract:
The 1969 General Assembly heard a presentation by the Jail Study Commission derived from their report, \"A Challenge to Excellence\", which compiled information from a two-year study. The commission observed local jails to make suggestions for improvements through legislative means. This required the commission assess current legislation and suggest either revising existing or proposing new laws.
