On Oct. 6, 1814, Reading Pumphrey and wife Lidia sold to Moses Harris 80 acres being Lot No. 1 set apart to John Briley and Lidia Pumphrey , by right of their mother, Rachel Briley, who was heir of John Barber, dec’d.

On Sept. 11, 1848, Jonas Nelson of Edgecombe Co., NC for love and affection gave to his daughter Lydia Briley, wife of Elihu Briley, a negro slave girl.
