Joseph Rasberry, of Greene Co., NC, married Priscilla ______and had two children: Joseph J. A. Rasberry and Mary Ann Nancy Rasberry. Joseph Rasberry conveyed property by deed in 1847 to his son, Joseph John Allen Rasberry. Joseph J. A. Rasberry died intestate and without issue on Apr. 10, 1858. Joseph Rasberry died in July 1854, leaving five brothers and five sisters. One sister, Mary A. N. Ward, b. Dec. 17, 1845; m.1) Mr. Cummins, d. 1867; m.2) on Nov. 3, 1870 to Benjamin S. Ward.

Dr. J. N. Bynum writes that when Major Benjamin May came here he had a brother and sister, He had no knowledge of the brother (John May), but the sister married a Mr. Walston, and lived on the land Dr. Bynum now owns. Her descendants are in Edgecombe, Pitt, Wilson, Greene and Lenoir Counties. Major Benjamin May m.1) Mary Tyson, who died about 1800. He m.2) ____Peterson, of Northampton Co., VA. He m.3) a widow who whose maiden name was Bynum. After the death of Major Benjamin May in 1808, the widow married a Mr. Moore. Mr. Moore died and she was always called “Aunt Moore” by the family. Aunt Moore lived with Ben Bynum, Dr. J. N. Bynum’s brother, for some years, some 70 years before (abt. 1836). As for the Bynums, Dr. J. N. Bynum writes that his father was Gideon Bynum (1785-1843), his father was Benjamin Bynum, his father was Nicholas Bynum, and his father was Hezekiah Bynum, who was said to come from Connecticut down South. My grandfather, Benjamin Bynum and his brother, John Bynum, settled a short while near Wilson, NC and then moved into Pitt County on the North side of the Tar River and then over onto the Little Contentnea Creek, where my father Gideon Bynum was born. Gideon Bynum married Sally May, granddaughter of Major Benjamin May. Gideon Bynum served in the War of 1812 at Beacon Island, near Beaufort, NC.
