Edgar Hamilton is president and CEO of The First National Bank of Shelby. The bank is typical of many small-town, independent banks which have a history of going the extra mile to help someone. Hamilton did not begin his career with a banking job. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation but eventually decided he did not want his career to be one of being transferred from city to city. He joined the Shelby bank in 1961, becoming president in 1979, and then CEO in 1985. Hamilton is profiled in NORTH CAROLINA magazine's “executive profile.â€
