Durham’s new metered parking system went into effect on Monday. Revenue from the meters is projected to be over one-million dollars per year, and will go toward increasing, maintaining, and providing security for parking downtown.

Abstract:
Raleigh’s historic Maiden Lane was born in the shadow of North Carolina State University, and part of a history steeped in fraternity parties and punk rock music. Despite its history, much of Maiden Lane will be re-developed into an apartment complex called Hillstone Cameron Village.

Abstract:
Michael Peterson, a former Durham mayoral candidate and Herald-Sun columnist, was convicted in 2003 for murdering his wife and pleaded innocent. A few months before a May 2017 retrial, he changed his plea to guilty but maintains innocence. After fifteen years, the case concludes but provides little closure to his family.

This is Not a Novel is the most recent show by The Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern in Durham. Directed by Jaybird O’Berski, the show is derived from a tetralogy of books by David Markson. Audience members walk through the production with a downloaded audio play to accompany live action drama, film, dance and visual art combined in a singular experience.

Patrick Dougherty, a Chapel Hill-based artist, has earned a global reputation for large-scale forms composed entirely of tree branches and saplings. The “stickwork” resembles the nests of enormous birds, primitive architecture, or even paintings. Dougherty’s latest work is featured on the south lawn of Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham.
