Durham's Lee Mortimer believes that the state's redistricting process, which formed the serpentine 12th Congressional District, does not reflect the democratic principle. His solution, partly, is to elect representatives by proportional representation.

Regional airports have been built in such areas as Siler City and Person and Franklin Counties with the intention of attracting industry. In some areas, however, the returns have yet to justify the outlays and the additional maintenance funds.

To teach future doctors patient relations, the Clinical Arts class at University Medical School uses actors to play people with medical problems. These \"patients\"\" are interviewed by the students, who then have their bedside manner critiqued.
