This article reviews some significant past winter storm events in the town of Tarboro. Earliest notation is the winter of 1848. The winters of 1856 and 1857 were particularly active. In January 1857, it was reported that the Tar River had frozen over. With some successive snow falls , the thermometer eventually reached 5 below zero. Most notorious was the 1927 blizzard that stopped all forms of traffic, including, railroad trains from the Norfolk area.

Author Monika Fleming talks about winter storms for Tarboro in more recent memory. Included are the 1967 spring Blizzard, the March 1980 storm and most destructive, the Dec. 9, 1989 ice storm. Major storms were recorded in January 2009 and January 2010.

It is noted that four facilities in North Carolina, including one planned for Tarboro will act as final stops in Amazon's transportation network before packages are delivered to customers. the Tarboro facility will have approximately 70,000 square feet of space and will be located in the Tarboro Commerce Center.

Weldon Mills Distillery opened in 2019 in a former 1892 corn mill in Weldon. In its brief existence , it is able to boast as being among the finest bourbon distilleries in the world. In 2021, it won the International Whiskey Competition's Best Cask Strength Bourbon Whiskey Award. tours with trolley service are provided to the public.

This replica display includes copies of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights and the nation's Civil Rights Amendments. Roosevelt Higgs began the project in 2023 after approaching the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners. The display is the 69th one in the United States and the 41st one in North Carolina.

DeBerry's Colonial Dining Room was a fixture in Tarboro from 1940s through the 1960s. Located across from the Town Common in a house thought to be one of Tarboro's oldest, the restaurant was featured in a 1959 Duncan Hines Travel Guide. Remembered are recipes like grated sweet potato pudding. Noted cook was Gussie Harrell. Historical documents related to the business have recently been added to digitalnc.org.

The new book, "Dr. Milton D. Quigless, Sr. Story: A Memoir of Race, Medicine, and Purpose in the Segregated South" is essentially the same as an earlier edition published in 2009 and titled "Looking Back - The Way Things Were, The Autobiography of Dr, Milton D. Quigless". Quigless originally came to Rocky Mount to practice but was referred by Dr. Avon there to a post in Tarboro. his Story is interesting as fifth grade dropout, entertainer, Pullman porter and finally medical student and practicing African American physician during the Great Depression.

The county is currently needing more property to offer its global client base. The county's Kingsboro business park is already well-known and will reach its capacity in 2024. The Battleboro Business Park is is situated next to the CSXNCDOT intermodal terminal. The new park named Edgecombe East will be located off US Hwy 64 East.
