In May 2023, Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership Corporation partnered with Hollar and Greene Produce Company to switch shipping units used for cold storage from diesel to electric power. This is the first time the technology has been employed by one of North Carolina's electric cooperatives.

Located in the town of Navassah, Reaves Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church had its beginnings in the 1860s. Closed in 2005, a restoration effort assisted by the Coastal Land Trust in 2016 and later Historic Wilmington Foundation is moving to place the structure as a point of interest along the Gullah Geechee Greenway / Blueway Heritage trail now being developed.

North Carolina has a rich golfing history and currently some of the finest golf courses in the world. Coming in 2029, the U.S. Opens will be held in Pinehurst for only the second time in American history. James Walker Tufts is credited with bringing the sport to North Carolina with his purchase of more than 5,000 acres of land in Sandhills region of Moore County.

"Mini golf, goofy golf, Putt-Putt, crazy golf--these days, you can find as many variations of miniature golf as there are nicknames for the family friendly putting courses." Don Clayton of Fayetteville developed the first miniature golf course, Putt-Putt Fun Centers in 1954. This grew by 1957 to 106 locations.

Liver Mush is described as a blend of head meat, liver, cornmeal and various seasonings blended together to form a mush which is then refrigerated in rectangular pans forming bricks which are then cooked. the concept is thought to have derived from German immigrants.
