Abstract:
There are around 2,320,592 potential voters in North Carolina in 1948. Of these potential voters, 1,277,846 registered to vote for the Democratic and Republican primaries. Of these registered voters, 438,211 took the trouble to vote. In other words, only 55% of potential voters, registered while only 34% of registered voters actually voted.

Democrats did not do well in the 2012 elections in North Carolina. The reasons for the likely Republican victories began two years ago. The Republicans' 2010 victory happened as a national census ensured newly drawn voting districts, and from the large increase in campaign donations in support of Republicans. With the money and control of the map, Republicans easily kept control of state politics.

Abstract:
The 2012 Election Day is November 6th but early voting opened on October 18th. Voters continued to be encouraged by political activists to vote early and avoid any problems on the actual Election Day. Energetic volunteers make early voting possible and, as reported on September 30th, 266 volunteers in 60 counties have participated.
