Abstract:
The bankrupt U.S. Postal Service faced an audit by the Office of the Inspector General. A report released by this agency reported 982 cases of the U.S. Postal Service paying leases on postal buildings to current or former employees, fourteen in North Carolina alone. These leases cost the Postal Service millions annually, potentially as high as $5.4 million worth of \"financial conflicts\" in these leases.
