Abstract:

Over 6,000 people turned out to welcome home Technical Sgt. Max Thompson of the Dix Creek section of Haywood County. Glenn describes Thompson's actions on the day and night of October 18, 1944, when the Germans were breaking through at Harren, Germany, and his heroic efforts stopped them single-handedly. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
