Abstract:

There has been a big increase in pipe smoking, and now that the United States can't import briar wood from abroad, many thousands of pipes are being made from wood in western North Carolina.

Craig Tarler is the owner and operator of Cornell and Diehl, Inc., a pipe tobacco manufacturing shop in Morganton. It is believed to be the largest pipe tobacco manufacturing shop in North Carolina.
