Abstract:
The Joseph and Kathleen Bryan Communications Center, located at the Research Triangle Park and named in honor of Mr. Bryan and in memory of the late Mrs. Bryan, serves as the administrative and production facilities of The University of North Carolina Center for Public Television. The Center is celebrating thirty-five years of operation.

Abstract:
In 2016, a new public television series called Reel South will air on UNC-TV and other public channels across the South. The series is a collaboration between UNC-TV, the Southern Documentary Fund, and South Carolina Educational Television and includes documentaries about the American South, not just North Carolina.

Abstract:
North Carolina’s Public Television could be one of the best given the state’s wealth, investment in education, and protection from one of the South’s leading universities – but it isn’t. The reasons why the University of North Carolina will not commit to making the TV station one of the best is explored. Programming is currently expanding and the station recently won several awards. However, outdated technology, low funding, and low ambition from UNC suggest the situation won’t change anytime soon.
